Hearing tests
As we grow older, our hearing (just like out eyesight) can become weaker. If you are worried about your hearing please make an appointment to come to see us. We recommend that you have your hearing checked every two years if you are over 45.
At The Hearing Space we offer two types of hearing tests — a comprehensive hearing assessment and a hearing screening check.

Hearing screening check
The hearing screening test is a quick test that determines whether or not a hearing loss is present. It will take about 15–20 minutes.

Comprehensive hearing assessment
This is a thorough assessment of your hearing, and includes
- A visual examination of your ear canal and eardrum.
- A discussion of the problems you are having with your hearing.
- Pure-tone
audiometry, a test that measures how well you can hear the different
sound frequencies that are important for speech and everyday listening
(the results are plotted on a chart called an ‘audiogram’).
- Speech audiometry, a test that measures how well you understand speech.
- Tympanometry, a quick test that shows how well your middle ear is functioning.
- A discussion of your results and options.
- It will take about 30–45 minutes.
Tests
are carried out in a sound treated room and use state-of-the-art
technology. If you like we can give you a copy of all your results.
